About YEAA

Vision:

Enable the educational intervention and enrichment goals of Yukon Elementary School by engaging community support through fundraising and volunteer opportunities.

Mission:

Yukon Elementary Academic Alliance (YEAA), led by a coalition of Yukon Elementary staff, parents, and community members, will support Yukon Elementary goals for providing a quality education to our children. YEAA will take guidance from Yukon administration and School Site Council, and act in partnership with Yukon PTA, to identify areas of need, raise funds to meet these needs, and oversee selected programs in support of the defined needs.

Approach:

  • Founding directors Michael Beasley, Elaine Wassil, George Wassil, Denise Spellman, Jennifer Sullivan, Patrick Sullivan, Sheri Skari, Theresa McCarthy, Becky Mock, Tania Clutter, and Stephanie Cook formed YEAA and began the efforts to formally structure the organization.

  • Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws were drafted and approved. These documents may be amended, as appropriate, by the directors selected for YEAA.

  • Directors will ensure that the YEAA Bylaws are followed.

  • Application for the formation of the Yukon Elementary Academic Alliance (YEAA), a non-profit public benefit corporation were filed with, and approved by the California Secretary of State.

  • Directors will conduct annual elections of YEAA officers at the June Board of Directors meeting, to include at least president, secretary, treasurer, and chief information officer. These individuals will be tasked by the directors to conduct YEAA business in accordance with consensus decisions and within the guidelines required by the State of California and the Internal Revenue Service.

  • Directors will meet monthly on the third Thursday of the month at 7 PM at Yukon Elementary School to review YEAA programs in work and proposals for future activity.

  • Directors will publish the date, time and venue of regular meetings and allow community presence at meetings. Conduct of meetings, including community interaction, will be governed by the YEAA Bylaws.

  • YEAA will receive Request For Action forms (RFAs) from the Yukon School Site Council, endorsed by the Yukon Elementary principal for programs consistent with the vision and mission of this organization.

  • YEAA directors will cause a proposal to be prepared and submitted in response to the RFAs, detailing approach, timeline, resources required, benchmarks for gauging progress.

  • In the event YEAA declines a particular RFA, YEAA directors will ensure that a written response is provided to Yukon School Site Council and Yukon Elementary citing rationale for declining the program opportunity.

  • YEAA directors will ensure that Yukon School Site Council and principal endorse, via signature, the YEAA proposal prior to initiating activities.

  • YEAA directors will ensure that an annual briefing to the Yukon community be completed, to address programs in work and progress to date and an annual recap of financial transactions.

YEAA will sponsor programs, equipment, and materials for the academic enrichment and intervention of students at Yukon Elementary School.
